  • Solid State Drives are all memory drives with no mechanical parts, and they have replaced hard drives as your primary drive.  They have the fastest transfer speeds available and technically the right SSDs have overall greater reliability.  The wrong SSDs however are an accident waiting to happen.

  • A 500 GigaByte drive gives you a large amount of space, at a more affordable price, with the option to add a hard drive for extra storage.
  • A 1 TeraByte drive offers an enormous amount of room for a massive library of games, applications, TV shows, and music.
  • Windows shows the formatted capacity for all drives as approximately 7% less than the capacity the drive is sold as.  For example 1 TeraByte offers ~930GB; 2TB offers ~1.8TB, etc.

NVME drives are optimized for solid state storage and improved over Serial ATA 600 or SATA III / 3.0 technology by using the PCI-Express interface. TLC solid state drives use three bits per cell. MLC drives use two bits per cell and are estimated to have a longer lifespan and greater reliability. All SSDs have extra space in reserve for automatically compensating for failing cells over time.

All the above drives have a limited manufacturer's warranty covering 5 years or 600 Terabytes Written.  However, it is normal and responsible to do your own periodic backups of your system to protect yourself from data loss.
