The Kilo XT Plus (pronounced Key-Low this time) is a special edition gaming PC designed with the best value that we can pack in at the $1000.00 price point.  With the base price you get an AMD Athlon II X3 triple-core processor and a GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics card for mid-range DirectX 11 graphics.  This gives you good gaming performance for a low cost gaming PC.  Enjoy hit games such as Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, StarCraft 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Borderlands, Fallout 3, Need for Speed: The Run, and id Software's Rage.  You can choose a more powerful graphics card for better performance and higher detail levels with support for higher resolution monitors.

The Kilo XT Plus differs from the Radical Value and GamerNova PCs in that it only supports a single graphics card, and it uses a less powerful processor by default.  You still get a state of the art PC with USB 3.0, SATA 6G, and eSATA for the best storage options.

Unlike off-the-shelf PCs the Kilo is upgradeable should your needs in a PC grow in the future.  You can in fact work with a lower budget now, and improve the PC either through KillaRad or on your own as your budget allows.  Now not everybody wants to mess with computer hardware, but one thing enthusiasts and gamers like is capability, and the Kilo gives that to you.

Unlike with some other competing sub-$1000 gaming PCs KillaRad will not compromise in quality or upgradeability for a lower price.  We suggest that you avoid a tower PC that advertises 5.1 audio (or only three audio jacks) instead of 7.1 audio, or two memory slots instead of four.  Those are some telltale signs of a super-cheap $60 system board – which is in the realm of junk – yet some prominent competitors load it into a so-called gaming PC.  Experience shows that with the cheapest systems possible you really run the risk of hitting a wall with regards to reliability and supportability.  While you may find a higher spec elsewhere you might have to compare the specs more in-depth to see that we do indeed come out ahead.

The Kilo includes Windows 7 Home Premium, bringing you evolved Windows operating system technology with new enhancements designed to improve how you use your computer.  It builds on Windows Vista's newer features like built-in quick system-wide searching right on the Start Menu, and the slick Aero 3D interface.  With Windows Media Center which is included, you can add a TV tuner card and a remote control to turn your PC into a DVR – Perfect for a home-office, bedroom, or a college dorm when paired with a large 23 to 27-inch flat-screen monitor.  Windows 7 has a new feature where you can easily shrink a video file down so it will fit on a portable media player such as the Microsoft Zune HD or a Windows Phone.  Windows 7 takes advantage of the GeForce graphics card to speed up this process like nothing else before, allowing you to take videos with you on the go much more simply.

The Kilo XT Plus aims to be the best gaming PC in its price range.  It includes a deluxe Logitech keyboard and a Logitech G400 gaming mouse priced in.  Its tasteful styling with the glossy silver front bezel allows it to look in-place anyplace.  As a mid-tower instead of a mini-tower it is better cooled and more expandable, and with AMD's smart system design you can upgrade it to a quad-core or even a new six-core processor in the future.  On a tighter budget you can't go wrong with KillaRad Computers.

  • The 600 Watt power supply is suitable for powering this system even with add-in cards, extra hard drives, and various upgrades.  If you select a graphics card, the power supply selection will automatically change to an appropriate model.  The higher wattage power supplies will provide proper power to the graphics card, and provide some more overhead for future upgrades.

  • The cost of hard drives has at least doubled due to record flooding in October in Thailand, where most hard drive components are made.  As such, hard drive prices are expected to be inflated through Spring 2012.
  • A 500 GigaByte drive offers an ample amount of room for a library of games, applications, TV shows, and music.

Add a TV tuner card to take advantage of the Media Center DVR capabilities of Windows 7.  With this you can receive cable TV or if you attach an antenna, ATSC HDTV digital broadcasts, depending on your area and your broadcast reception.  Since it's a combo card, the TV tuner and the HDTV tuner can be used simultanously - you can record one while watching the other.  Add two cards, and you'll be able to mix and match recording or watching two HDTV channels or two standard TV channels – record four shows at once if you like.  Broadcast HDTV has a better picture because it doesn't have the extra digital compression that Cable and Satellite companies add in.  The key is just in using a good antenna, and pointing it right so you get reliable reception.  In certain areas depending on your Cable provider, this card can allow you to view unencrypted Cable HDTV channels – usually your network local channels.  You'll also be able to tune in FM radio with your computer using Media Center.

DirectX 11, which will be increasingly important for gaming over the coming months and years, has debuted here with Windows 7.

The 64-bit versions of Windows 7 can take advantage of access to vastly more memory. 

All versions of Windows 7 now include Windows Vista Ultimate's Complete PC Backup.  Windows 7 Professional includes all of the features of Windows 7 Home Premium including Windows Media Center, and it adds new features including Remote Desktop, Location-aware Printing, the ability to backup your computer to a network location, and the ability to connect to a business network with a Windows server.  Windows 7 Ultimate has everything in Professional and adds the ability to use Windows in most foreign languages, BitLocker hard drive encryption, BitLocker To Go USB flash drive encryption, and the ability to boot to a .VHD virtual hard drive file.

Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate include XP Mode which gives you the capability to run a copy of Windows XP Professional in a window or even full screen on top of Windows 7.  This enables you to run old programs that maybe had complications when run under Windows Vista, when they were expecting XP.  Now you can use USB devices through XP Mode to make an older device work again, which didn't have Windows Vista drivers.
